MPLS: Sick Lit: A Writing Workshop

An open writing workshop for artists and writers interested in writing and reading around chronic illness. No previous experience needed. FREE. Workshops will be lead by writer, editor, and teaching artist Lara Mimosa Montes in the library meeting room.

The library is ADA accessible. There is a free parking lot and street parking. Nearest public transit include the number 7 and 22 busses, as well as the light transit blue line.

Lara Mimosa Montes is the author of THRESHOLES (Coffee House Press, 2020) and The Somnambulist (Horse Less Press, 2016). She holds a PhD in English from The Graduate Center, City University of New York. She is a senior editor of Triple Canopy. Lara is a fiscal year 2020 recipient of an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

NOTE: Although the SAM calendar is generally limited to events that focus on spoken word storytelling, we are broadening its scope this spring to include relevant events that focus on illness and healing, as a lead-up to our May 2 Story Fest with the theme, Stories That Heal.
