ONLINE: Storytelling for the Page and Stage (1st class of 6-week course)

Autobiographical storytelling has become a hugely popular art form, dominating theatre festivals, TED talks, podcasts and radio shows. Learn how to find and craft the rich, revealing and connective stories in your own everyday life through writing exercises, discussion and even a little improv. Focus on the essential building blocks that make up a story, and how to create a compelling voice in writing or in performance.

Have a notebook and pen, or a laptop computer ready for in-class writing time. Taught by professional actor/writer/storyteller Amy Salloway.

Actor/writer/educator Amy Salloway is the creator of the award-winning, autobiographical touring solo plays "Does This Monologue Make Me Look Fat?," “So Kiss Me Already, Herschel Gertz!,” and “Circumference,” as well as the two-person show “Entwined”. Amy has contributed stories to MPR's "In the Loop" radio show, CBC radio's "Definitely Not The Opera" (kinda the Canadian equivalent of "This American Life"), and the national podcast "Risk!" She teaches memoir, creative writing and storytelling through Minneapolis Community Ed and The Story Studio, and performs regularly on just about every spoken-word-inclusive stage in the Twin Cities.
