Story Club Minneapolis is in its FIFTH year in the Twin Cities! Join us for our Ides of March show, in which we hope there's nothing to beware but maybe a tangled microphone cord, and tired cheek muscles, from laughing and smiling for 80 minutes.
Story Club's structure is half open-mic, half curated performers. Our stage showcases autobiographical stories, like some of the big story slams, but without the judging, scoring and competition. It's a lively, welcoming evening for beginners and polished artists alike.
Before each show, audience members are invited to put their names in the hat (okay, it's a jar) for the opportunity to tell an up-to-7-minute story onstage. The four storytellers picked from the jar by the host will bare their souls and talents, and they'll be followed by our featured guests. Does this make you want to tell a story? GOOD! (Do it! Do it! Do it!)
March is a special and unusual THREE FEATURE month that you won't want to miss -- we'll hear stories from actor, author and educator Nikki Abramson (www.nikkiabramson.com) ; Seattle-based storyteller, producer and comedian Danielle K.L. Gregoire; and multidisciplinary performer and author Heidi Arneson (http://www.heidiarneson.com), accompanied by musician Tony Hauser.
[UPDATE: Storyteller Nikki Abramson will not be appearing in March, but in our JUNE show instead! Stay tuned for details!]
Tickets: On a sliding scale from $6 - $12, at the door or in advance.
