American Sign Language and the Joy of Storytelling

Offered by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, this class will teach participants the basics of ASL including how to introduce yourself and will provide a short overview of Deaf culture as well as a storytelling experience. Each participant will learn how to tell the ABC story. Attendees will leave knowing the ASL alphabet and with exposure to ASL storytelling and with an appreciation for including those with hearing disabilities in your programming. A second session building on these skills will be offered November 19 from 1-3 pm.
