About the Book:
Drafted during the Vietnam era, Larry Johnson filed for conscientious objector status and served as an Army medic in Germany. A life-long peace activist from Golden Valley, Minnesota, Johnson answered JFK's call in 1961 and hiked 50 miles. At age 61, he later hiked 61 miles down Highway 61 with his grandson, Tyler. Just a few weeks ago, to commemorate his 70th birthday, Larry completed a 70-mile "Beating Weapons into Windmills" hike.
About the Author:
Larry Johnson is national chair for the OGP (Old Gardening Party), with an aim to keep the world safe for children, gardening, and storytelling. Ever since being drafted during the War in Vietnam and serving as a conscientious objector, Larry has sought to unearth the stories bulldozed over by a culture bent on war. Larry is curator for THE WISDOM OF THE DEAD SEYMOUR SCROLLS, and since the 60s has been playing MUSIC FOR WEAPONS AND WASTE REDUCTION on items rescued from the landfill.
